Geographical location

Russia is the largest country in the world in terms of area. Its area is 17,098,242 square kilometres. The country is located in the eastern part of the continent of Europe and the northern part of the continent of Asia. It extends from north to south for a distance of more than 4,000 km, and from west to east for a distance of approximately 10,000 km. Russia shares borders with 16 countries. It is bordered to the southeast by North Korea (the Democratic People's Republic of Korea), to the south by China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia, to the southwest by Ukraine, and to the west by Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Norway. The Kaliningrad region borders     Lithuania and Poland
